Pennyworth, the DC comics television series that looks at Batman’s famed butler before he crossed paths with Bruce Wayne, was supposed to premiere its second season this past summer. However, much like the rest of Hollywood, shooting was delayed due to the pandemic. Though we might have to wait a little bit longer for new episodes, some interesting tidbits were revealed during the show’s DC FanDome panel.
Executive producer, Bruno Heller, shared that Alfred has become more hardened by the previous events and is desperate to leave London and begin his mythical life in America. But he still has family ties and loyalties to his hometown and feels conflicted to leave for freedom in the U.S.
After being shot, Thomas Wayne returns to America to recuperate and move up the ladder within the C.I.A. He eventually returns to London as the C.I.A. station chief. Meanwhile, Martha dives fully into the civil war and she is described as a combination of Lady Penelope and Che Guevara. In addition, Heller revealed that Martha will become pregnant during season two.
The executive producer also mentioned that we will meet Lucius Fox in the upcoming season but that news broke before during the DC FanDome: Hall of Heroes event.
As of the taping of the panel, production had not restarted yet so now would be a good time to catch up on Pennyworth season 1 on EPIX.
