[SXSW ’21] Watch: Trailer for ultra-violent rotoscoped fantasy ‘The Spine of Night’

Check out the new trailer below!

The Spine of Night is one of our most anticipated films that will be coming to this year’s South by Southwest. A throwback to the days of Heavy Metal, the fantasy film spans different eras as generations do battle against an evil force. The movie is led by an all star case that includes Lucy Lawless, Richard E. Grant, and Patton Oswalt.

A new trailer was released that successfully shows off what the film encompasses. The rotoscoped animation looks fantastic and the fantasy setting is not something that is seen often in today’s animated works. The extreme violence is also something that is not common in recent animation.

The Spine of Night premieres at SXSW on March 18. Be sure to keep checking AIPT for continued SXSW coverage, including an interview with The Spine of Night filmmakers Philip Gelatt and Morgan Galen King.

SXSW is March 16 – March 20. Tickets and a full lineup can be found here.
