Mamo #1
Words and Art by Sas Milledge.
Mamo is a patient, ethereal, and beautiful work for fans of the magic of all sorts. Read it for the mystery and the curious and unique magical world, but read it a second time for the beautiful art. (9.5/10)

The Swamp Thing #5
Words by Ram V. Art by John McCrea.
The Swamp Thing #5 also continues to explore the idea put forth in the book’s very title, that Levi Kamei isn’t just the latest Swamp Thing — he is The Swamp Thing. Every avatar that ever was lives through him, and so he “knows” Constantine immediately. The first encounter between the two is a lovely moment, with both characters acknowledging their “shared” history before getting straight to work, just like old times. The resulting adventure is one of my favorites of this run so far, and an issue that will likely remain a highlight of this series. (9.5/10)

The Good Asian #3
Words by Pornsak Pichetshote. Art by Alexandre Tefenkgi.
The Good Asian continues to heat up with a killer on the loose and the politics of the time further complicating the psychology of its characters. The complicated history, the deeply real characters, and a mystery worth cracking all come together. As Pichetshote says in the letters, things are only going to heat up from here. (9/10)

Nocterra #5
Words by Scott Snyder. Art by Tony S. Daniel.
Nocterra #5 shakes up Val’s faith in this penultimate issue. With a conclusion that’s sure to push Val closer to the edge and a testing relationship with Em, the climax truly kicks into full throttle. Although this issue felt like a quicker read than normal, fans of the series will barely sit still as the excitement builds up to the finale of this first story arc. It’s incredible to see just how much has already happened in this first arc, and we can only expect that Snyder will blow our expectations away in the next issue and beyond. (9/10)

The Nice House in the Lake #2
Words by James Tynion IV . Art by Alvaro Martinez Bueno.
The first issue was a showstopper. This one doubles down on suspense while preserving the indelible character beats that have made James Tynion IV and Álvaro Martínez Bueno a can’t-miss creative team. (9/10)
