Call of Duty: Vanguard alpha announced for PlayStation

Be the first to play COD: Vanguard next weekend.

If you’re hungry for some new Call of Duty, you won’t have to wait long. PlayStation 4 and 5 players will be able to test out the recently announced Call of Duty: Vanguard next week during a free alpha. It’ll start on August 27 at 1:00 PM EST and be available for 48 hours until August 29. No need to pre-order or be a PS Plus member — the alpha will be available to all PS4 and PS5 players.

Participants will be able to experience Vanguard‘s new mode Champion Hill, which is described by developer Sledgehammer Games as a “tournament-style, multi-map, and multi-life” mode. Eight teams of two or three players will compete in a round-robin tournament until one squad is left standing. More details on Champion Hill are available over at the PlayStation Blog.

Vanguard is Sledgehammer’s first COD since 2017’s WWII. It too will have a World War II setting, taking players on a tour through the various theaters of war, like the North African campaign, the Eastern front, and the conflict in the Pacific. It’ll release November 5 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox One Series X/S, and PC.

You’ll be able to preload the alpha starting tomorrow August 23. While you wait, read up on why Warzone is failing its players and check out the Vanguard alpha trailer below.
