So many video games, so little time! 2026 is already shaping up to be a big year for gaming. With back-to-back releases, here are the video games hitting your stores this week.
Forza Horizon 6 (5/19)
Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PC
Forza Horizon 6 is the next installment in the popular open-world racing franchise, and they’re taking its players to beautiful Japan. The game’s Japan setting will allow the player to visit iconic landmarks in Tokyo City, such as Shibuya Crossing and Ginkgo Avenue, and much more. Instead of joining the Horizon festival as a professional driver, Forza Horizon 6 will start you off as a tourist in its campaign, making it different from the previous titles. The gameplay features “Collection Journal,” where players can collect digital momentos while exploring Japan through their journey, and introduces Car Meets, in-game locations to meet real players and check out their cars, while also having the option to download certain customizations.
Yoshi and the Mysterious Book (5/21)
Platforms: Switch 2
Following his appearance in the recent Super Mario movie, Nintendo’s adorable dinosaur is getting his own standalone game that looks to be aimed at both kids and longtime fans. Yoshi and the Mysterious Book sees Yoshi teaming up with a mysterious book named Mr. Encyclopedia, who seems to have missed some content in his pages. It’s up to Yoshi to jump into the book and figure out the details of the magical creatures Mr. E documents. During his adventures, Yoshi picks up certain abilities that will help him to solve puzzles and turn pages of the book. Other than that, Yoshi can jump, flutter, throw eggs, and even allow creatures to ride on his back for unique abilities.
Lego Batman: Legacy of The Dark Knight (5/22)
Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, PC
Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight‘s stunning visuals, massive open-world, Arkham-style combat, and that Lego charm already make it a top game of the year contender. It might even be the best Batman and Lego game in years. Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight takes its players through six different eras of the Caped Crusader’s crime-fighting career while referencing iconic moments from more than eighty years of the character’s history, from comics to movies. There’s a massive overhaul of combat, stealth, and exploration compared to previous Lego Batman titles, including a small roster of only seven playable characters, important to Batman’s mythos, with their own unique gameplay style.
Other titles worth checking out: Coffee Talk Tokyo, Phonopolis, Bubsy 4D, STARBITES, and Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core.
