‘Radiant Black’ #10 is an intensely fun read

Just when you think things can’t get any better, Higgins and Costa outdo themselves every issue.

Image Comics’ Radiant Black series continues to be the best superhero book you’re not reading. The story’s main protagonist, Marshall, has been through thick and thin to save the world and his best buddy, Nathan. Issue #9 left us on a juicy cliffhanger that teased the potential that Marshall may have one more way to save Nathan before his family makes the ultimate decision to pull him off life support. Radiant Black #10 is a majestic voyage into an unknown plane known as Existence, where Marshall will try to recover Nathan’s soul. But if he isn’t careful, it could be a one-way trip.

Radiant Black #10

Up to this point, Radiant Black has been about Marshall and the other radiant trying to escape the grasp of an unidentified assailant who wants to take his radiant powers. But what’s really spectacular about issue #10 is its intimate approach to the characters. Radiant Black #10 does an impeccable job of telling two stories simultaneously: Marshall trying to save his best friend in the world even if it kills him, and secondly, Marshall coming face to face with his own buried secrets. It’s a fantastic display of character growth, insanely dope illustrations, and the stakes at this point couldn’t be any higher.

The art in Radiant Black #10 is a cosmic wonderland of endless creative proportions. From the first moment that Marshall arrives into Existence, the illustrations take you on a topsy turvy and genuinely fun experience. The world-building here feels enormous, and the palette of color choices makes each panel moment pop so brilliantly. You’ll think it’s a video game.

Radiant Black #10 is an intensely fun read. Just when you think things can’t get any better, Kyle Higgins and Marcelo Costa find ways to outdo themselves with every issue, and issue #10 is no exception. I implore you to read this series and grab every issue you can find because it’s so good, and you won’t be sorry.
