2022 has been off to a blazing start for gamers, from major releases like Pokémon Legends: Arceus to Horizon Forbidden West to Elden Ring. Game releases may be slowing down in April, but there’s still plenty to look forward to.
Let’s check out what video games are hitting storefronts this week.
Lila’s Sky Ark (4/20)
The first thing you’ll notice about Lila’s Sky Ark is the colorful and “trippy” pixel art. The look and music of the game are vibrant and create a wonderful atmosphere. Players will “protect a psychedelic world from bizarre beasts and punishing bosses in this poetic mystery.” Gameplay will consist of combat (using anything from arrows to sheep), exploring, and puzzle solving.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (4/20)
You know it’s a light week for gaming when a 2008 game getting a Switch port garners a spotlight. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed arrives on Nintendo Switch this week. The Wii version is being ported, meaning some basic motion controls will be available for the Joy Cons to activate Force abilities. Take Starkiller on the go and tear through waves of stormtroopers, battle ferocious monsters, and hunt down Jedi in TFU.
Winter Ember (4/19)
Winter Ember is a new immersive stealth action game from Blowfish Studios. Players take control of “the faceless man” (where have I heard that before?) as he seeks revenge for his family and answers to a mysterious conspiracy. Gameplay looks tight, and Winter Ember is poised to be a stealth game fans of the genre won’t want to miss. If you’re interested, there’s already a comic based on the game you can read now.
