The latest Channel Surfing TV picks gives you superspies and the sci-fi. The novel, The IPCRESS File, receives an all-new adaptation. Get ready for the third volume of Love, Death & Robots. Then visit a deserted planet in Night Sky.

Palmer. Harry Palmer

The IPCRESS File is a British cold war spy thriller novel from the 60s. It even spawned a feature film starring Michael Caine a few years after its release. Now, a new series that is a very loose adaptation is arriving this week.

The story centers on a small-time crook named Harry Palmer who is offered a job as an intelligence officer to track down a missing person. The costumes and filmed aesthetic really harken back and capture the era. It stars Joe Cole in the lead role alongside Lucy Boynton and Tom Hollander.

The Ipcress File premieres Thursday, May 19, on AMC+.

An Unlikely Trio

The award-winning adult animated anthology series Love, Death & Robots returns for its third volume. Prepare for new stories that thematically connect to at least one but sometimes all of the components of the title.

The new volume will consist of nine episodes and based off of the trailer, there is once again a wide variety of styles and tales. Included in this batch is the animated directorial debut of acclaimed filmmaker David Fincher and there is also the first sequel to a previous episode in “Three Robots: Exit Strategies.”

Stream the entire third volume of Love, Death & Robots beginning Friday, May 20, on Netflix.

To the Stars

Imagine you could be instantly transported into the stars to see a new and exotic land. In Night Sky, an elderly couple have that very gateway and have kept it a secret for years; even from those closest to them.

The story follows the Yorks, Irene (Sissy Spacek) and Franklin (J.K. Simmons), who have a chamber in their backyard that connects to a weird and deserted planet. When they cross paths with a mysterious young man, their lives are turned upside down and their biggest secret is about to be exposed. The couple soon discover answers regarding their chamber and all of its implications.

Night Sky premieres Friday, May 20, on Prime Video.
