Last fall, AMC announced that they would be expanding The Walking Dead Universe with a new show entitled Tales of the Walking Dead. It is an episodic anthology series consisting of six original one-hour standalone episodes featuring both new and old characters within the zombie apocalyptic world.
We now know that it will premiere Sunday, August 14 at 9pm ET/8c on AMC and AMC+, with the first two episodes streaming that same night on AMC+. The following episodes will stream one week early, beginning Sunday, August 21.
Each episode will have its own tone and perspective while exploring other corners of the universe and building upon the Walking Dead mythology.
Tales of the Walking Dead attracted a variety of talent on and behind the screen. Set to star are Olivia Munn (The Newsroom, X-Men: Apocalypse), Samantha Morton (The Walking Dead, Harlots), Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Parker Posey (Lost in Space), Anthony Edwards (Inventing Anna, WeCrashed), Poppy Liu (Dead Ringers), Jillian Bell (Rough Night), Loan Chabanol (Fading Gigolo), Embeth Davidtz (Old, Ray Donovan), Jessie T. Usher (Shaft, The Boys), Daniella Pineda (Cowboy Bebop), Danny Ramirez (Top Gun: Maverick), amongst others.
The directors brought on board are just as impressive. Haifaa al-Mansour (Good Lord Bird, Motherland), Deborah Kampmeier (Star Trek: Picard), and Ron Underwood (Fear the Walking Dead, Big Shot) will each direct one episode while series producer Michael Satrazemis (The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead) will direct the remaining three episodes.
