Top Chef is approaching the finish line. At the start of the episode we had four talented contestants in the semi-finals, but only three would make it to next week. It would be a shame to be so close to the finals but not be able to participate.
For the quickfire, the competitors needed to get inside the mind of Tom Colicchio. Before they arrived in the kitchen, the judge cooked a dish that he served to other judges Kristen Kish and Gail Simmons. Collectively, the chefs had 20 yes/no questions, five each, to ask Tom about the dish he just made. Based off of the responses, they had to recreate the dish in both presentation and flavor. The winner would earn a $20,000 prize.
The elimination would challenge everyone’s creativity. Some of the most innovative restaurants in the world are making plating an art form. They are thinking outside the box and pushing the envelope in how to present a dish. The contestants were presented with various unconventional vessels. They needed to select one to incorporate with their dish that tells a story and is delicious food.
