No Man’s Sky soars to Nintendo Switch in October

No Man’s Sky continues its comeback tour with a Switch port.

No Man’s Sky, the procedurally generated sci-fi exploration game from Hello Games, will be arriving on Nintendo Switch come October 7 this year. It’ll be released both digitally and physically, retailing for $59.99, and will ship with the 20 updates Hello Games have made over the past six years. It will also release physically for the PlayStation 5 on the same date and both the PS5 and Switch versions will be published by Bandai Namco working with Hello Games.

No Man’s Sky originally released to a less-than-stellar reception back in 2016, but has been remade into an almost entriely new game. And now Switch players will be able to enjoy all the game has to offer — exploring space, mining for resources, interacting with alien life, flying among the stars — at home or on the go.

No Man’s Sky on this tiny portable device feels both completely natural and also totally improbable at the same time…No Man’s Sky is built around procedural generation, which means the console generates everything you see. This makes it so much harder to bring our game to something like the Switch, but I think this team never seems happier than when they are trying to do near-impossible things,” Hello Games co-founder Sean Murray said in a press release.
