Star Wars Black Series: SDCC Exclusive Boba Fett figure revealed

In addition to this figure, lots of official info and pictures about other upcoming items were released, including the new Selfie Series.

On Wednesday, Hasbro revealed a new Star Wars Black Series exclusive for San Diego Comic-Con 2022. Awkwardly dubbed “Boba Fett (In Disguise)”, the figure features Boba Fett in his all-black look from the recent Bounty Hunter Wars comic event.

Despite being a pedantic and whiny Star Wars fan myself, I have to disagree with the complaints being made online about this offering. Yes, it’s an easy repaint on an arguably outdated mold, but it still looks cool and is comic-accurate to Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters Alpha. Add in some nice weapon accessories, and you’ve got a unique exclusive for those who want it without everyone else missing out on a must-have item.

Unfortunately, the figure will cost you $33.99, which is an outrageous price even when you factor in its exclusivity. Also, you won’t actually be able to get the item at SDCC. Instead, you can visit the Hasbro booth and pick up a one-time QR code to overpay for it.

There will also be limited quantities available on HasbroPulse after the convention, but we all know how that goes.

In other news, Kerry Dixon at SDCCBlog revealed some official details about Hasbro’s Selfie Series, which was originally leaked back in May. As you may recall, the line will allow fans to submit facial scans to Hasbro, which can then be used to turn them into the following action figures:

  • Mandalorian Warrior
  • Stormtrooper
  • X-Wing Pilot
  • Rebel Princess
  • Black Panther
  • Black Widow
  • Spider-Man
  • Iron Man
  • Female Rookie (Ghostbusters)
  • Male (Ghostbusters)
  • Snake Eyes
  • Scarlett
  • Red Ranger
  • Pink Ranger

According to Dixon’s report, SDCC attendees can be the first to try this series out before it officially debuts this fall. No official price has been revealed, but the previous leak listed it as $59.99.

Exclusive No More

Despite previous reports, both the Black Series Cassian/BEMO2 2-pack and Vintage Collection The Mandalorian: The Rescue Set will NOT be SDCC exclusives.

The Rescue Set will retail for $74.99 with an expected arrival in Spring 2023. While that’s still pretty steep, it’s not as bad as the $100 price tag many of us were expecting. Meanwhile, the Cassian 2-pack will arrive this fall and set you back $55.99 — an absurd price for one figure plus a medium-sized, boxy droid.

Fittingly, the official photos of the Cassian set don’t offer much more than we already saw from In Demand Toys this week. The official Rescue Set pictures, however, look fantastic. Check them out below!
