Now that Thor: Love and Thunder is in theaters and the world has been introduced to Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor, you might be thirsty for more details about the Goddess of Thunder. Thanks to the incredible stories written by comic veterans Jason Aaron and ND Stevenson, Jane Foster: The Saga of The Mighty Thor trade paperback is an excellent book to fill that void.
The comic follows Jane Foster, who takes up the mantle of Thor after both Thor and Odin become unworthy to carry Mjolnir. This doesn’t particularly sit well with King Odin. He does everything he can to kill the new Thor and retrieve the hammer, including unleashing The Destroyer on her. Meanwhile, Malekith, ruler of the dark elves, is spreading war across the realms for his selfish agendas.
What makes it worth picking up is the heartfelt story of a woman who never gives up hope. Jane Foster is battling cancer. Unfortunately, the treatments are not working, and she’s on borrowed time. Every time she becomes Thor, she gets sicker. The average person would write a will, spend time with loved ones, or cross things off their bucket list. Instead, Jane Foster’s first thought is to protect the realms and duel with characters like The Silver Samurai, Frost Giants, Lady Loki, and even King Odin himself.
Jane Foster: The Saga of The Mighty Thor is 472 pages about illness, standing up for yourself, determination, and the strength it takes to be a true hero. The book features bold and breathtaking artwork from a creative assortment of gifted individuals, including Russell Dauterman, Jorge Molina, Marguerite Sauvage, Stev Epting, and Mahmud Asrur. In addition, Colorists Matthew Wilson, Frank Martin, and Jordie Bellaire add fire to every page they touch.
Jane Foster: The Saga of The Mighty Thor is a great story that displays why Jane Foster is not only worthy of Thor’s hammer but proves she can stand alone in the fight for justice. If you’ve never read a single Mighty Thor comic, this book is a great trade to pick up and gain more knowledge on The Goddess of Thunder.
