With the first issue is now in shops, attending Marvel’s Judgment Day panel was an excellent opportunity for fans to get a look at where the event would take the Eternals, Avenger, and X-Men in the coming months, as well as the ramifications for the Marvel universe in the next few years. The panel was entirely focused on A.X.E.: Judgment Day, their new event that started this week and runs through December.
The panel, moderated by Nick Lowe (VP & executive editor), featured Mark Russell, David Pepose, C.B. Cebulski, Mark Brooks, and Darren Shane. The panel was excited to share their thinking and creative process behind Judgment Day.
First, they revealed a villainous force featured in the crossover called The Hex. Cebulski described the creatures as Kirby meets Evangelion, and like how the Hulk says, “you won’t like me when I’m angry.” This is what the Celestials turn into when they are angry.
Cebulski noted that Judgment Day, and its various tie-in books, will feature several POV “Human characters…. seemingly…that will carry us through the Judgment Day event.” He noted that Kitty Pryde often served as this type of character when he was reading the X-Men and that these new characters will provide a similar connection for readers. Additionally, these are international characters, giving this story has a global impact.
The panel revealed a few covers, interiors, and one-shots connected to the event. With judgment being central to the crossover, many of the books appear to deal with our heroes being judged by others, both foe and friend.

Fantastic Four #47 will feature an Invisible Woman-centric story. It’s a cosmic love story as Sue takes center stage for all the action. Writer of the tie-in, David Pepose said, “If it weren’t for Sue, he [Reed Richards] wouldn’t have reached for the stars in the first place.”

We asked how Judgment Day fits in with Hickman’s run on the X-Men, and CB said that the book will set the stage for some big things for our mutants in 2024.
It was a great panel, with lots of excitement on the stage for this event and the creative potential he provided to Marvel artists and writers.
