Comixology updates fans on app changes for new releases and filtering

Comixology lists new updates to their app for a better user experience.

Comixology has updated fans via Twitter on app fixes and updates today. These changes come after a slew of updates in July which allowed for viewing double-page spreads, vertical scrolling, and zoom functionalities were added.

Those updates include:

  • An All New Releases section of the New Releases page on the web store is now sorted by Release Date
  • Added Comixology Unlimited recommendations throughout the Comixology and Kindle stores to suggest other books fans might want that are available in CU.
  • In the Comixology Android and Fire apps, you can now filter any series within your Library by Issues, Volumes, or Omnibuses. iOS is coming soon.

Comixology updates fans on new updates

It has been a tough year for ComiXology, which moved its entire userbase to Amazon’s main website. The change hugely impacted the reader experience with many ComiXology subscribers reporting issues finding the comics they owned as well as reading comics on browsers. Even Patton Oswalt, comedian and actor, took ComiXology to task online suggesting they move their UI back to ComiXology.com.

ComiXology has seen quite a few changes over the year, including Head of Content Chip Mosher stepping down and Bryce Gold taking over to lead the Comixology Originals program. ComiXology co-founder/CEO David Steinberger also stepped down from ComiXology in March. In fact, Steinberger has left Amazon.com as is noted in his June 20th tweet.
