On Friday, Aaron Couch and Borys Kit of the Hollywood Reporter revealed that Eman Esfandi would join the cast of Disney’s upcoming Ahsoka series as Ezra Bridger. The news is expected to be confirmed at Saturday’s D23 panel.
We’ve known for a while that Ahsoka would feature live-action characters from Rebels. In addition to Natasha Liu Bordizzo being confirmed as Sabine Wrenn last fall, leaks from the exclusive trailer played at Star Wars Celebration a few months ago (which you should totally not watch) confirmed Ezra and the rest of the Ghost Crew would be in the show.
Esfandi’s casting also puts to rest the rumors about Mena Massoud playing the role — something he addressed Friday on Twitter:
Glad the rumors will stop now. Never really had a fair shot at it unfortunately (1 self-tape months ago) but just wasn’t meant for me I guess. Can’t deny the dude looks exactly like Ezra. Hope it’s done justice!

As for Esfandi himself, I’ll be honest here and admit that I don’t know anything about his previous roles or acting abilities. That being said, it’s hard to deny that he looks the part — especially for a version of Ezra who will be noticeably older than the last time we saw him.
