Holiday shopping season is in full swing, but that doesn’t mean gaming releases are slowing down! There are still a few of 2022’s most anticipated video games left to look forward to before the year comes to a close. Let’s take a look at what video games are coming out this week.
Dragon Quest Treasures (12/9)
A new installment in one of the most popular JRPG franchises launches this week on the Switch. Dragon Quest Treasures is a spinoff of sorts from Dragon Quest XI as it follows siblings Erik and Mia’s childhood adventures in a treasure-filled land called Draconia. Aided by cute companions Oozabella and Vampella, the brother and sister duo will journey across deserts and through bustling cities in search of loot.
Hello Neighbor 2 (12/6)
The “family friendly” Hello Neighbor sequel drops tomorrow. Spy on your creepy, advanced-AI-controlled neighbors to dig up their secrets. Something weird is going on with everyone in a seemingly quiet town, and it’s up to you to put on your investigative journalist hat and figure out what. It won’t be easy — your creepy neighbors will do anything to stop you from outsmarting them and uncovering their secrets.
Chained Echoes (12/8)
Chained Echoes is a retro-style 16-bit JRPG set in a “fantasy world where dragons are as common as piloted mechanical suits.” I’m already hooked by just that one line from the official description of the game. It promises 30 hours of story and turn-based battles, which can be taken on with traditional weaponry, like swords and magic, or via a piloted mech. Story-wise, it’ll be up to you and your companions to bring peace to a land that’s ravaged by war between three kingdoms.
