World of Warcraft, other Blizzard games went down after DDoS attack

UPDATE: Blizzard has fixed the issue and players should be able to log in normally.

UPDATE 04/17/2023: At 10:54 PM ET on April 16, Blizzard tweeted that the DDoS attack had ended. The below article is being preserved for context but as of now, players should be able to log into Battle.net normally.

If you’re unable to log into World of Warcraft right now, its not just you — Battle.net has been the subject of a DDoS attack, leaving millions of gamers unable to access Blizzard’s library of games, such as WoW, Overwatch, and more. Some players are also reporting being kicked out of their games despite already having been logged in.

Blizzard has acknowledged the attack, tweeting the following:

We are currently experiencing a DDoS attack, which may result in high latency and disconnections for some players. We are actively working to mitigate this issue.
