Marvel Legends: Thor and Destroyer 2-pack revealed

Is a great Destroyer figure enough to overcome a Thor whose costume isn’t comic-accurate?

This week, Hasbro revealed another product for the Avengers 60th Anniversary: a 2-pack featuring comic/classic Thor and the Destroyer.

Since the Destroyer is what everyone wants from this set, we’ll take a look at Thor first to get him out of the way.

After perusing some online toy groups, a lot of folks appear to be frustrated that he isn’t 100% comic-accurate. For people who aren’t huge fans of Thor when he isn’t being portrayed by Chris Hemsworth, this probably sounds petty/pedantic. It’s a cool looking-figure with a great alternate head.

But when you consider that the set retails for $59.99, there is absolutely nothing wrong with expecting even the small details to be handled with care. If Hasbro is going to keep hiking prices, there needs to be a noticeable increase in value.

That said, $59.99 is actually a lot better than I expected this set to be — especially with an oversize figure being included. It’s still too expensive, but by a much smaller margin than we’ve seen lately.

Sticking the positive side of things, the Destroyer figure looks fantastic. I’d like to see a video of it in hand to get a better idea of the articulation, but at first glance it appears that Hasbro did some great work with this one.

It should also be noted that although the figure’s paint scheme seems easy, a lazy effort would’ve been noticeable. Thankfully, Hasbro knocked it out of the park here, as well.
