During the San Diego Comic-Con Panel for Netflix’s upcoming Masters of the Universe: Revolution, Kevin Smith revealed that actor Keith David will be voicing Hordak. The news was first reported by Deadline, who tweeted a video of the announcement (along with our first good look at the villain’s new animated appearance).

At the conclusion of Netflix’s Masters of the Universe: REVELATIONS (which is really good), it was revealed that Hordak would be the main villain for the next series. It also looked like poor Skeletor was going to receive a forced upgrade. If you don’t care about being spoiled, Mattel just revealed a figure showing what happened to him, which you can see here.
As for Keith David, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better choice to voice this role. The prolific actor has taken on a number of genre roles over the years, including the voice of Goliath in the criminally underrated Gargoyles animated series.
News of David’s casting definitely helps mitigate the sting of Netflix deciding to cancel its live-action He-Man movie after already sinking $30 million into development. Mattel is currently shopping the property to other buyers, but that’s going to be a tough sell if Netflix was willing to walk away after such a substantial investment.
