On Tuesday, Apple released new images, a description, and a title for their upcoming Godzilla series, which takes place in Legendary Pictures’ Monsterverse. No release date yet, but we’ll take what we can get.
Here is Apple’s first official description for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters:
Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The dramatic saga — spanning three generations — reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives.
So despite the film taking in the immediate aftermath of the 2014 Godzilla film, it will be jumping back and forth through time via Kurt and Wyatt Russell’s character. The mention of a third generation could also mean a deeper dive into the past or that the narrative will catch up to the present Monsterverse timeline.
Whatever the case, the series description (and that awesome picture at the top of the article) officially moves Monarch: Legacy of the Monsters from mildly intriguing to highly anticipated. Check out more pictures from the series below!
