Hasbro Star Wars: New Vintage Collection and Black Series figures revealed

Some of these were already leaked recently, but now we have pretty promotional photos in addition to the previously unknown items.

On Tuesday, the Hasbro Star Wars team held a livestream to reveal some of their new Vintage Collection and Black Series offerings based on the newly released Ahsoka series. Some of these were already leaked recently, but now we have pretty promotional photos in addition to the previously unknown items.

Let’s take a look at the Vintage Collection offerings first. All of these items are scheduled to go up for preorder from most major retailers on August 30 at 1:00 PM ET. They will retail for $16.99 and are expected to arrive this fall.

General Herra Syndulla

Although another version of this figure comes with the HasLab Ghost, folks like me who don’t care about pretty packaging can sell the special edition one to help offset the cost. But then you look at this one, see the differences, and get all conflicted about it (or at least I do).

Whatever you decide, we can hopefully all agree that this is a very nice figure.

HK-87 Assassin Droid

I’m likely in the minority on this, but the HK-87 design just doesn’t do it for me. It still makes for a cool-looking figure, though.

Morgan Elsbeth

It’s a shame this figure doesn’t come with any accessories, but it’s pretty good otherwise. The facial portrait isn’t a great match for actress Diana Lee Inosanto, but the sculpt and outfitting are superb.

Vintage Collection Pipeline Reveals

  • Chopper – will obviously require multiple purchases.
  • Jango Fett – badly needed update.
  • Captain Rex – another character/figure in need of an update.
  • Darth Vader – again?
  • R2-D2 – love the little guy, but not very excited for a re-release.
  • Stormtrooper – hard to improve on the last two releases, but not impossible.
  • Luke X-Wing Pilot – some folks will be very excited, but not me.
  • Princess Leia – excitement will GREATLY depend on if they get the facial portrait right.

Hasbro also announced that if the HasLab Ghost campaign reaches all its stretch goals (17,000 units/backers), they’ll release a separately sold two-pack of Sabine and Chopper on one of those mural cards.

Unfortunately, the Sabine figure really won’t be worth it unless they fix the oversized helmet issue.

Now let’s take a look at the Black Series offerings. Just like before, all of these figures will be available for preorder from most major retailers on August 30 at 1:00 PM. They will retail for $24.99 and are expected to arrive this fall.

As someone who missed out on this figure of my all-time favorite droid (and one of my all-time favorite characters) on its first release, I’m more than willing to overpay to make sure Chopper is guarding my office desk.

Ezra Bridger

I really want to like this figure, but something about Ezra’s expression just seems off. Maybe it’s because my prediction about him joining Thrawn will turn out to be true.

HK-87 Assassin Droid

If you’re a Star Wars toy collector who’s online at all, you know that Black Series and Vintage Collection folks occasionally have some spats with each other. As absurd as that sounds, I can’t deny falling on the Vintage Collection side of things.

In this case, however, the Black Series collectors have every right to be ticked about their HK-87 not having the same accessories as the Vintage Collection release.

Marrok

Still not sure what to think of this character on the show (and becoming less and less convinced it’s Barriss Offee in disguise), but that is one fantastic-looking figure.

Morgan Elsbeth

Another great Morgan Elsbeth figure with a tragic lack of accessories.

Huyang

This figure, on the other hand, definitely gives you some more value for your money — especially considering how great the character has been in the Ahsoka series thus far.

Black Series Pipeline Reveals

  • Moma Nadon – hopefully this means we can have a 6″ version of this character/alien species that doesn’t cost $45.
  • R5-D4 and Pit Droids – if these are priced like a single release, I may have to snag a set.
