Spring has sprung, and with it promises indie darlings and Triple A hits releasing week after week. This year has a lot to live up to compared to 2023’s best releases, but it’s been strong so far with releases like Princess Peach: Showtime! and Little Kitty, Big City winning over gamers and cat lovers alike.
Let’s check out what video games are hitting storefronts this week.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II (5/21)
Platforms: PC and Xbox Series X/S
Ninja Theory continues Senua’s story in Senuas’s Saga: Hellblade II. It’ll follow her “brutal journey of survival through the myth and torment of Viking Iceland” as Senua struggles with her internal psychosis and the evils of the world. Hellblade II will return the third-person melee combat of the first game and improve upon it while also including puzzles and exploration. Expect it to be just as harrowing and haunting as the first entry.
Hauntii (5/23)
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S
Adventure to — and haunt — the afterlife in Hauntii. It’s a fun twinstick shooter starring a ghost on a quest to find the answers behind angel-like beings who bring lost souls to the next realm. You’ll be able to take control of various aspects of the beautifully stylized environment via Hauntii‘s unique haunt mechanic.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (5/23)
Platform: Switch
Hot off the heals of 2023’s Super Mario RPG remake comes a remake of another beloved Mario adventure, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Mario finds himself cursed to be made of paper, but you’ll use this to your advantage as Mario can flatten to maneuver through crevices or fold into a paper airplane to cross wide distances. Mario will come across familiar faces like Princess Peach and Bowser on his quest to discover the treasure behind The Thousand-Year Door. The remake features improved graphics and an updated soundtrack.
Also worth adding to your wishlist: Duck Detective: The Secret Salami, Paper Trail, Venture to the Vile, and Crown Wars: The Black Prince.
