New video games worth playing for the week of 7/29/24

Check out what’s new in the world of video games this week.

Summer is in full swing, and what better way to beat the heat than staying inside and enjoying indie darlings and Triple A hits releasing week after week? This year has a lot to live up to compared to 2023’s best video games, but it’s been strong so far with releases like Princess Peach: Showtime! and Little Kitty, Big City winning over gamers and cat lovers alike.

Let’s check out what video games are hitting storefronts this week.

The Garden Path (7/30)

Platforms: PC and Switch

When dealing with all the chaos the world throws at us day after day, one can never have enough chill and cozy games to sit back and relax with. The Garden Path is a slice-of-life gardening sim about the joys of making new friends while tending a garden — and discovering its secrets. Meant to be played in short bursts, The Garden Path respects your time rather than demands it as it presents 30 minutes or less of playtime each day via daily errands and visitors.

Star Wars: Bounty Hunter (8/1)

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S

While we wait for any news about their upcoming Knights of the Old Republic remake, Aspyr continues to remaster and release Star Wars games from your childhood. Star Wars: Bounty Hunter is next on the docket with improved graphics and lighting as well as DualSense integration on the PS5. Tread carefully, however, as Aspyr’s rereleases don’t have the best track record as of late (looking at you, Battlefront and KOTOR).

Kitsune Tails (8/1)

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S

Kitsune Tails is a pixel art platformer, just your favorite games of yesteryear. You’ll platform across a world inspired by Japanese mythology as a young bushy-tailed messenger kitsune, who begins the game out to deliver her first message. It’ll include costume power-ups, exciting boss battles, and a range of characters with complicated relationships for you to explore.
