The leaves are turning, football’s kicking off, and the kids are back in school: summer has ended. But fear not, as the fall promises indie darlings and Triple A hits week after week. This year has a lot to live up to compared to 2023’s best video games, but it’s been strong so far with releases like Princess Peach: Showtime! and Little Kitty, Big City winning over gamers and cat lovers alike.

Until Dawn (10/4)
Platforms: PC and PlayStation 5
Until Dawn, the game that kickstarted Supermassive’s foray into branching-narrative horror games, has been remade in Unreal Engine 5. It promises visual upgrades across the board compared to the 2015 original, including new animations, improved lighting, and enhanced details across characters and environments. It’ll also feature a new score and a new third-person camera perspective, giving you a different look at the action. While the style of game has been played out in recent years — mostly by Supermassive — Until Dawn stands above most with its frights.
Wizard of Legend 2 (10/3)
Platform: PC
Wizard of Legend 2 is a follow-up to the 2018 roguelite hit and releases into early access this week. It ditches the pixel art style and side-scrolling visuals for 3D graphics and an isometric view while returning the fun and action-packed gameplay. You’ll master elemental magic on your quests to defeat trials and become the Wizard of Legend, solo or with up to three allies.
Starfield: Shattered Space (9/30)
Platforms: PC and Xbox Series X/S
Starfield is only about a year into its optimistic ten-year lifespan, and receives its first of possibly many story expansions today. It centers on the House Va’ruun faction and a mysterious new power on their homeworld that has disrupted space -time. You’ll investigate this anomaly while exploring the planet, meeting new characters along the way, and will even play a part in deciding the fate of the House Va’ruun faction. The expansion will also include new spacesuits, weapons, and gear.
