Halloween spirit is in the air as fall is in full swing, promising indie darlings and Triple A hits week after week. This year has a lot to live up to compared to 2023’s best video games, but it’s been strong so far with releases like Princess Peach: Showtime! and Little Kitty, Big City winning over gamers and cat lovers alike.
Let’s check out what video games are hitting storefronts this week.
Super Mario Party Jamboree (10/17)
Platform: Switch
The OG Switch keeps churning out first-party exclusives as Super Mario Party Jamboree is next in line. With 22 playable characters, it’ll feature the largest roster of a Mario Party game with Pauline and Ninji joining the party. Like past Mario Party games, Jamboree pit players against each other in a series of fun and easy-to-learn minigames.
A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead (10/17)
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S
Jim Halpert’s horror franchise becomes a video game with A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead. It’ll follow an asthmatic college student and her boyfriend as they try to survive the apocalyptic world overrun by monsters who attack at the faintest of sounds. It’ll blend stealth and survival horror with its gameplay, and your controller’s mic can optionally be used to detect sounds, meaning you’ll have to be quiet as a mouse as you play.
Neva (10/15)
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S
If Neva lives up to the hype, it’ll easily be a frontrunner for indie game of the year. Hailing from Gris developer Nomada Studio, it follows a young woman and her wolf companion as they journey through a dying world. It’ll feature a beautiful art style, emotional soundtrack, fun platforming, and combat. Gris is one of the best games from last generation, and I can’t wait to check out its successor.
Also worth checking out: Unknown 9: Awakening, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed, and Arsene Lupin: Once a Thief.
