Halloween spirit is in the air as fall is in full swing, promising indie darlings and Triple A hits week after week. This year has a lot to live up to compared to 2023’s best video games, but it’s been strong so far with releases like Princess Peach: Showtime! and Little Kitty, Big City winning over gamers and cat lovers alike.
Let’s check out what video games are hitting storefronts this week.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure (10/29)
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S
The Life is Strange series returns to its roots with a direct sequel to the original game. Double Exposure follows an older Max Caufield utilizing her time powers to solve the murder of her friend Safi at Caledon University. Instead of rewinding time, she unlocks a new power to travel to a parallel timeline where Safi is alive but endangered. In an episodic adventure, Max will shift between timelines to find the murderer and prevent any more deaths.
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered (10/31)
Platforms: PC and PlayStation 5
Like The Last of Us Part II and other PS4 exclusives before it, Horizon Zero Dawn is receiving a facelift. Detailed in a PlayStation Blog post, the remastered edition for PS5 and PC will feature visually upgraded nature, more NPCs to make communities feel more alive, 10 additional hours of motion capture data for in-game conversations, and much more. People who already own the game can upgrade to the remastered version for $9.99.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard (10/31)
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S
After ten long years, Dragon Age is back — and hopefully marks a return to form for developer Bioware. The Veilguard casts you as Rook, your fully customizable character. Ancient gods have broken free and intend to destroy the world, and it’s up to you and your motley crew of seven new companions to make sure that doesn’t happen. Like Bioware RPGs of yore, you’ll explore your companions’ backstories and sparks might fly for some romance. Dragon Age: The Veilguard‘s gameplay receives the most changes from past games in the series as it leans into real-time, action-filled combat.
