New ‘Ghosts of Tsushima: Legends’ anime series to be a Crunchyroll exclusive

The Ghosts of Tsushima: Legends anime arrives in 2027.

CES is one of the world’s biggest events centered around technology. It’s no surprise that heavyweight, Sony, would hold a press conference. But the company highlighted some of their entertainment projects, including a new anime series based on Ghost of Tsushima.

Ghosts of Tsushima is an open-world action-adventure game from Sucker Punch Productions that takes place in feudal Japan. The anime will be an adaptation of the “Legends” cooperative multiplayer mode that is inspired by Japanese folktales and mythology.

The upcoming series will premiere exclusively on Crunchyroll. It is a joint collaboration between the streaming platform, Aniplex, Sony Music, and PlayStation Productions. The anime will be directed by Takanobu Mizuno, with Gen Urobuchi for story composition, and animation by Kamikaze Douga. If Aniplex sounds familiar, they are the studio behind such hits as Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Solo Leveling, and Sword Art Online

Fans can expect traditional samurai aesthetics, cinematic storytelling, and striking visuals. Alas, we still have quite a wait since the Ghost of Tsushima anime will premiere in 2027.
