#5: Transformers #17

Fantastic Five: Best comics of the week of February 12, 2025

So, how do we feel about Transformers #17? Good! At least I think so, but like I said, it’s a bit of an in-betweener. So there’s a lot of little scenes helping move every thread along rather than fixating in on one at a time. I have to wonder if maybe it would have been better served the other way around? Not that this doesn’t work as is, just food for thought. Let’s hope we get to see our new guy in action next time.

#4: Absolute Batman #5

Fantastic Five: Best comics of the week of February 12, 2025

Absolute Batman #5 is another home run for Scott Snyder and co. It’s shocking, teeth-clenching, amazing to look at, and above all else, a good time. However, it wouldn’t hurt to utilize the title’s premise more by differentiating it from regular Batman stories – looking at other aspects of the character behind his mask and muscles.

#3: Green Lantern Corps #1

Fantastic Five: Best comics of the week of February 12, 2025

Seeing John Stewart as an enlightened hero is terrific and the perfect centerpiece of this new Green Lantern Corps series. The Green Lantern Mythos is taking off again, and keeping that momentum going forward is the best idea for another book. Having the main series creative team join up with Morgan Hampton is excellent as it is a Creative Corps working on this book. You can tell they have incredible chemistry together as their characters shine. It is the perfect time to join the Corps and get this series on your pull list, no matter how long you’ve been a Lantern fan or who your main Lantern is.

#2: Into the Unbeing Part 2 #1

Fantastic Five: Best comics of the week of February 12, 2025

Into the Unbeing is one of the best horror comics around, further proven by Part 2. It blends tension, jaw-dropping visuals, and a deeply unsettling narrative. Part 2 continues to push boundaries mixing terror, human frailty, and environmental dread, this series cements itself as a must-read for horror fans.

#1: Bug Wars #1

Fantastic Five: Best comics of the week of February 12, 2025

Bug Wars #1 might have a world that’s small in scale, but it’s bursting with potential thanks to its creative team. Aaron and Asrar deliver a comic that’s bloody, epic, and grabs the reader from the first page and probably won’t let go until the final page of the final issue. Yeah. It’s that good.
