New year, new video games. There are dozens of huge games we can’t wait to get out hands on in 2025, including plenty of indies we’ll want to sink our teeth into. Great games are releasing one after the other, so let’s check out what video games are hitting storefronts this week.
Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars (3/6)
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S
The first two entries in the beloved Suikoden series get remastered in HD this week. With enhanced lighting and HD illustrations, the art style of Suikoden I & II HD Remaster is reminiscent of the modern HD-2D art style. It’ll return the games’ turn-based battles, war events, and duels, offering variety in gameplay. The remastered collection also features quality of live improvements like an updated UI, autosave, and the ability to fast forward in battle.
Split Fiction (3/6)
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S
Hazelight Studios follows up 2021’s Game of the Year winner It Takes Two with another co-op only game, Split Fiction. You and your gaming partner will play as a pair of writers who get trapped in the fantasy and science sci-fi worlds they created through a machine meant to steal their creativity. Only through working together will they be able to break free. Split Fiction will blend platforming and puzzle solving and will feature unique gameplay for each level; for example, you’ll ride dragons in one and fly through space in another. At just $49.99, Split Fiction is already a great deal, but it also comes with a friend’s pass, allowing you to play online with a friend while only one of you owns the game.
