‘Green Lantern Corps’ #3 review

Who will the Green Lanterns side with?

Buckle up, because Green Lantern Corps #3 throws you right into the thick of things as writers Jeremy Adams and Morgan Hampton and artist Fernando Pasarin dive deeper into the complexities of the emotional Spectrum. Things escalate quickly as we deal with the fallout from the makeshift Red Lantern Corps, now scavenging what’s left of Thanagar. Hawkwoman has no interest in seeing that kind of sacrilege happen on her turf, so the big question becomes: How do John Stewart and the Green Lantern Corps keep the peace?

Green Lantern Corps #3

DC

The issue opens with Stewart and Atrocitus going head-to-head in a brutal showdown. Pasarin captures the intensity of their clash with bold and energetic paneling, grounding the story in spectacle and emotion. The pirate-like Red Lanterns remain a real threat, and Adams and Hampton do a great job digging into their raw, chaotic motivations. There’s nuance here—their rage isn’t aimless. It’s driven by an actual loss, significantly as they’re cut off from their power source, thanks to the actions of the United Planet Lanterns. That thread adds surprising weight to the action.

One of the standout elements in this issue is the subplot between John Stewart and Hawkwoman. It’s a nice nod to their Justice League animated history, deepening the story’s emotional texture. Their battle for survival against the Red Lanterns becomes more than just a physical fight—it’s a confrontation with their pasts, their principles, and the choices they’ll have to make moving forward. I especially appreciated how the story gave Hawkwoman space to wrestle with her decision before landing on a course of action. It’s a decisive moment that lets her shine.

This creative team is firing on all cylinders. Adams and Hampton’s script flows effortlessly, blending action with meaningful character beats. Both writers have a firm handle on these characters, whether the more significant conflict or the quieter emotional undercurrents. Fernando Pasarin, Oclair Albert, Jason Paz, Arif Prianto, and Rain Beredo’s artwork is vivid and sharp, giving cosmic grandeur to each page while never losing the character focus. This issue exemplifies how Green Lantern Corps can offer grand sci-fi action and intimate storytelling. With so many threads coming together across both Green Lantern titles, this one did a great job of informing and entertaining while leaving you eager to see where the Spectrum leads next.

Green Lantern Corps #3 delivers a fast-paced, emotionally charged chapter in the Fractured Spectrum arc. With intense character work, especially for Atrocitus, John Stewart, and Hawkwoman, mixed with Fernando Pasarin’s bold visuals, the issue balances cosmic action with personal stakes. Adams and Hampton continue to bring heart and history into the mix, reminding us that rage and righteousness aren’t always easy to tell apart.
