The Green Lantern Corps creative team of Morgan Hampton, Jeremy Adams, V Ken Marion, and Serg Acuna are back with another installment of emotional adventure as they take Guy, Narf, Simon, Keli, and Ellie, then mix in some Space Cabbie, all for emotional ups and downs as the entertainment rolls on. The creative team does a fantastic job of fleshing out these characters to create a unity between the corps that allows for the rationale of “why so many Earth Lanterns,” so there is no wanting of one character to be “benched” so another gets the spotlight.
By way of the Mind Maze, from last issue, the writing team creates an exciting situation that helps to peel Simon and Keli’s origins back just enough to generate interest in them, while also getting the bulk of the stars in this issue together, but what will it all mean later as they continue the dive deeper into the Emotional Spectrum within the “Fractured Spectrum” arc?

DC
The story aspect is a wild emotional drive that is nicely balanced with horror and humor, allowing for action and adventure to drive the issue at a fun, lively pace. The Mind Maze is a superb tool for delving into the traumas of Simon Baz and Keli Quintela, which fosters interest in discovering more about their adventures, helps bridge the gaps when it comes to Lanterns in the spotlight, and secures page time. This creative team is doing an excellent job of making all Lanterns enjoyable enough so that readers and the fan base can avoid the tensions around the “who is the best Lantern” problem and enjoy a series with a large cast that is predominantly Green. I also appreciate that this creative team isn’t changing characters for their own sake, but rather expanding on what has already been established – for example, the bond between Keli and Simon remains present and put to the test.

DC
The art team does a great job bringing the humor in the issue to life in visuals. My brain went to The Office‘s Schrute Bucks when Evil Star was offering “Evil Star Credits.” The chase scenes enable the artists to blend their skills, crafting an engaging section that serves as a solid counter to the Mind Maze horrors. The chase also allowed recruit Narf to step up in a significant way, finally, and allowed Guy to do what he does best: take credit. A very entertaining issue that drives things forward. Now that the Lanterns are all together by the issue’s end, this raises questions for readers as we wait for what the next journey to Mogo will be and what lies behind Ellie’s door. An incredible ride and fun enough to return for more.
With the Mind Maze explored and the Lanterns finally united, Green Lantern Corps #5 delivers by deepening character relationships while escalating the mystery. Whether it’s the traumas of Keli and Simon confronting buried pain, or the comedic spark of Guy, Narf, and Space Cabbie chasing down Evil Star Credits, there’s a meaningful rhythm here – one that blends horror, humor, and adventure into a story that feels worthy of the Corps’ name. This creative team continues to make space for every Lantern without sacrificing personality or purpose, and by the final page, there’s a real sense of momentum. Something is waiting in space, and if this issue is any clue, it’s going to test what’s behind each Lantern’s door, literally and emotionally.
