The world of Dungeon Crawler Carl is about to level up.
Vault Comics is teaming up with series creator Matt Dinniman, writer Michael Moreci, and artist Brett Bean for the first-ever original graphic novel set in the Dungeon Crawler Carl universe. This fast-paced, full-length story will be 100% canon and introduce a new fan-favorite character whose identity is being kept tightly under wraps, for now.
While fans will have to wait until September 15th for the big character reveal, the Backerkit pre-launch page is now live, offering exclusive teases, early concept art, and access to launch party invites, campaign reward previews, and fan-driven stretch goals when the full campaign drops on October 1st, 2025.
Set during the brutal and bizarre first level of the World Dungeon, the graphic novel will follow a yet-to-be-revealed character navigating the deadly alien game show alongside returning favorites, vicious monsters, and absurd, over-the-top challenges, all for the amusement of a galaxy-wide audience.
“This is already shaping up to be an amazing, over-the-top story,” said Dinniman. “I can’t wait for y’all to get your hands and eyes on it.”
Bean added, “I get to draw all the mayhem, blood, and laughs along the way. Goddamn it, Donut, I can’t wait to show you what the other crawlers have been up to!”
“I was a big fan of Dungeon Crawler Carl long before I was asked to contribute,” said Moreci. “What Brett, Matt, and the entire team have in store is something the DCC faithful are going to love.”
With over a million copies sold, Dungeon Crawler Carl has become one of the most beloved series in the LitRPG space. The books follow Carl, a Coast Guard vet, and his ex-girlfriend’s cat, Princess Donut, as they fight their way through a lethal, reality TV–style dungeon watched by an interstellar audience. Earlier this year, it was announced that Universal International Studios and Seth MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door are developing a live-action adaptation for television, with Chris Yost (Thor: Ragnarok, The Mandalorian) on board as writer and showrunner.
Stay tuned, this is just the beginning of a whole new crawl.
