Marvel just revealed the end of 2099, and the debut of Spider-Man 3099 will blow your mind

The final 2099 epic arrives this December in THE END 2099 by Steve Orlando and Ibraim Roberson.

This December, Marvel’s fan-favorite dystopian future returns in THE END 2099, a five-issue limited series from returning creative team Steve Orlando and Ibraim Roberson. First revealed at San Diego Comic-Con, the event will bring together iconic legacy heroes like Spider-Man 2099 and Red Hulk 2099 alongside newer breakout characters in a battle for the fate of their timeline and their very existence.

The fight unfolds on a distant world where Mephisto and the terrifying cosmic entity ABYSSUS, an unholy fusion of Galactus and Knull, have ignited a secret war that pulls in heroes and villains from across Marvel’s multiverse. From Age of Apocalypse’s Wolverine and Cyclops to House of M’s Scarlet Witch, familiar faces from alternate realities clash with the warriors of 2099 in a brutal survival match. The twist? Their foes don’t just hail from the past; they come from a brand-new future: the mysterious 3099.

This cataclysmic crossover sees the entire 2099 timeline unified for the first time, raising the stakes as never before. In a way, it has all been building to this, with Orlando adding to and building on 2099 lore.

“Every time the door to 2099 opens, it’s not just an honor–it’s an adventure!” Orlando said. “This is the one for it all, folks. With all existing 2099 timelines united into the one, true, Universe-2099, the stakes are higher than ever when Abyssus, the Devourer in Black, comes to dinner! But not all is as it seems! Mephisto, 2099’s dark dealmaker, pivots from annihilation to a war of champions–with 2099’s greatest battling Abyssus’ finest, plucked from the multiverse!”

And at the center of it all is a new kind of Spider-Man, Spider-Man 3099. He’s never met another Spider-hero before, but everything changes when he crosses paths with Miguel O’Hara. Orlando teases that this new Spidey could be the first hero in history, destined to reshape the meaning of heroism in the Marvel Universe.
