‘Spider-Man/Venom: Death Spiral’ unleashes stunning new variant covers, and the crossover secrets are getting wild

Check out a trip of new variant covers for AMAZING SPIDER-MAN/VENOM: DEATH SPIRAL!

A terrifying new super-powered serial killer is set to make their mark next year, pulling Spider-Man, Venom, and Carnage into a deadly downward spiral.

First revealed last month, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN/VENOM: DEATH SPIRAL spins out of the events unfolding in Amazing Spider-Man, Venom, and Eddie Brock: Carnage. The crossover officially launches with AMAZING SPIDER-MAN/VENOM: DEATH SPIRAL #1 next month before continuing through upcoming issues of Amazing Spider-Man and Venom all the way into April. Joe Kelly (Amazing Spider-Man), Al Ewing (Venom), and Charles Soule (Eddie Brock: Carnage) team up to script the event, with art by Ed McGuinness, Carlos Gómez, and Jesús Saíz. Marvel also revealed new variant covers for the debut issue, showcasing Spider-Man, Venom, and Carnage as illustrated by Stonehouse, Dave Rapoza, and Skan.

In the story, Spider-Man makes it back to Earth only to discover that Carnage—now bonded to Eddie Brock—has uncovered his secret identity. When Spidey and Venom attempt to stand against Carnage, things take another sharp turn as Peter learns that Mary Jane is now the all-new Venom. Their collision only grows more chaotic with the entrance of Torment, a mysterious serial killer whose actions entwine all three characters in a chain of death and devastation. With their loved ones in danger, Spider-Man, Venom, and Carnage are forced into an uneasy alliance to uncover Torment’s identity before the body count rises.

“This crossover is maybe the most epically dramatic Spider-Story in a decade,” says Spider-Editor Nick Lowe. “It’s dark, it’s dangerous, and it pushes these characters so far out of their comfort zones they may never make it back. STRAP IN!”
