Jonathan Hickman’s ‘Three Worlds/Three Moons’ comes to Dark Horse this July

Hickman, Mike del Mundo, Mike Huddleston, and Nick Spencer’s universe makes the jump from digital to print.

This summer, Jonathan Hickman’s sprawling science-fiction epic Three Worlds / Three Moons makes the leap from digital to print at Dark Horse Comics. Originally launched online at 3w3m.com, the ambitious shared universe will arrive in comic shops and bookstores beginning July 2026.

Created by Jonathan Hickman, Mike del Mundo, Mike Huddleston, and Nick Spencer, Three Worlds / Three Moons spans comics, graphic novels, and additional multimedia storytelling. The first print release will be Foundations, a 32-page one-shot written by Hickman and Spencer, illustrated by del Mundo and Huddleston, and lettered by Rus Wooton. The issue sets the stage for the larger sci-fi saga and will be presented in a prestige, magazine-sized format and will go on sale July 8.

Foundations introduces readers to a distant solar system locked in a millennia-spanning war between magic and science, order and chaos. When astronaut and explorer Tajo Vallar embarks on a doomed mission to a mysterious dormant moon, the ancient conflict reignites with even deadlier consequences.

“We are incredibly excited for the opportunity to partner with Dark Horse so that comic stores and comic fans can get to experience this project that has been years in the making,” said 3W/3M creator Jonathan Hickman.

Fans can preorder Foundations now at their local comic shop and prepare to enter the expansive world of Three Worlds/Three Moons when it arrives July 8. Check out the cover, as well as Dark Horse’s full press release, below:
