Daredevil #1 by Stephanie Phillips and Lee Garbett hits comic shops tomorrow, and Marvel is launching it with a major twist: True Believers Blind Bags.
Each sealed bag gives fans a random version of the issue, ranging from standard covers to rare exclusives. Some packs even contain extremely limited sketch covers, including one-of-a-kind, hand-drawn pieces by special contributors.
Already announced, that’s not the big surprise. Amongst the biggest surprises, Marvel confirmed that creator Frank Miller has contributed artwork, alongside Charlie Cox and Jon Bernthal, who recently returned as Daredevil and the Punisher in Daredevil: Born Again. Some of Cox’s signed copies will also feature artwork from acclaimed Daredevil artist Alex Maleev.
The buzz around both the new series and the blind bag format has already made this the biggest Daredevil launch in Marvel history, with over 300,000 copies sold ahead of release, according to Marvel. Fans of blind bags will remember that Marvel Studios joined the mix with the Ultimate Endgame #1 blind bag, as Kevin Feige and Robert Downey Jr. contributed sketch covers.
The new run offers a fresh entry point for readers, following Matt Murdock as he takes on a new role as a law professor while facing a dangerous new villain named Omen, who has a personal vendetta against Daredevil.
Fans can still preorder the issue at their local comic shop, but with demand this high, these blind bags may not stay sealed for long.
