Short film offerings from Fantasia International Film Festival

The 30th edition is about to begin!

For thirty years the Fantasia International Film Festival has wowed audiences. Over the decades it has been home to an amazing assortment of fantasy, horror, science fiction, and all types of genre cinema. It is widely regarded as the largest genre film festival in North America. As one of the largest genre film festivals in the world it has also been home to all kinds of short films.

The thirtieth edition of Fantasia is no different as there will be over two hundred short screening. These movies are spread across fifteen different categories that highlight animation, women filmmakers, and countries from all over the world.

Anime No Bento is the return of the short form anime showcase that will feature brand new works from leading studios such as Nippo Animation and STUDIO4ºC, while Circo Animato has ten animated films that do not fall with the formal conventions of Japanese anime. And if two categories dedicated to animation are not enough for you, there will be more to be found in other sections.

Fantasia grew from the Asian film scene in Montreal. China Mosaic are short films from Mainland China and CineMapsosa is a celebration of Korean storytelling. Diasporic Dualities is back for its second edition while Fragments of Asia features four unsettling films from as many Asian countries. Finally, Things That Go Bump In the East brings macabre offerings from the other side of the world.

There will also be shorts playing before feature presentations. Along with showcases dedicated to horror and science fiction, there will be plenty of short films to check out at Fantasia.

The festival website is now live with the complete lineup of over 125 features and 200+ shorts available to be explored. Ticket pre-sales open at 10:00AM on July 3.
