Is It Good? Star Wars: Legacy #10 Review

Tell me if you’ve heard this one before. A nasty Sith is abusing the good people on a space station and a team of Imperial Knights are on their way to end his torment Special Ops style. Wait…I haven’t see that either. Holy shnickies that’s going down in the latest issue of Legacy?! Gimme, or is it good?

Last month Knight Jao lead Ania Solo and others into a semi trap. A Sith has been enslaving Mon Calamari and their families and Jao was lead there due to his intense desire to stop Darth Wredd, the new big bad Sith in the universe. Unfortunately his rash snap judgments sent Jao and Ania into an ocean of pure poison. WHAT EVER WILL THEY DO?! They were saved by their Mon Calamari bud and it’s time for revenge. Oh wait…that’s not a Jedi thing is it? A force of Imperial Knights are on their way too. This issue kicks off there.

This issue is a lot of action and a lot of what you’d expect in the third act of a blockbuster movie. It’s unfortunate Darth Wredd is still an arms length distance from our heroes, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get a Sith taken down in the process. Writers Corinna Bechko and Gabriel Hardman deliver a satisfying conclusion to this aside story of Mon Calamari slaves, a Darth Mual looking Sith and the continued journey of Jao from supplicant Jedi to…well we’ll see shall we.

I can’t wait to see where they go next and you should too

It’s pretty cool to see the Imperial Knights at work as well. Usually we see a single Jedi fighting it out with a bunch of blaster shooting morons, but here we’ve got a very organized unit of Jedi. This all of course hinges on great art, what action comic doesn’t require it, and artist Brian Thies doesn’t disappoint. Everything is rendered impeccably, with no loss of tension or confusoing between panels. That’s huge as far as lightsaber battles go, but it’s also important to the gravitas of the situation. An entire space station is hanging in the balance, with a flood gate of water ready to blow everything into outer space. That’s all held together by Theis’ dark and foreboding work.

  • Clear and poignant art
  • Everything concludes nicely
  • Not a lot of character development but what do you expect from an action climax

Is It Good?

Let’s face it, a good conclusion is hard to come by these days. With all the events and bologna it’s nice to see a book like this can cap off a story arc with big promises and progression of story. I’m right there with Ania and Jao and I can’t wait to see where they go next and you should too.
