Earth 2: World’s End #7 (DC Comics)

Writers: Daniel H. Wilson, Marguerite Bennett and Mike Johnson
Artists: Robson Rocha, Jan Duursema, Tyler Kirkham, Stephen Segovia and Jorge Jimenez

In the North Pole, the Furies of Apokolips convene to discuss their next plan of attack. With their sister, Famine, dead, they are going to need to work together now to make up for their lack of strength. The Furies know the Avatars of Earth are gathering/readying to attack them.

Meanwhile in the Firepit of Geneva, Huntress is still held prisoner by Desaad. He tries to trick and manipulate her into believing her family and friends have abandoned her and that she should join him and become a Fury of Apokolips. She doesn’t buy it for a second and only mocks him in return.

Spoiler Corner:

The other heroes in the Firepit fight off an army of Superman rejected clones as best as they can. Thomas Wayne gets the upper hand by figuring out their weakness and destroying them.

Green Lantern is completely shocked by the fact that his former boyfriend is now the Avatar of the White and tries to talk to him about what is going on. The Avatar tells him that he is not the man he used to be and now, they must put aside whatever feelings there are and focus on the task at hand. They need to unite the other Avatars, with the next being from the Blue.

In Amazonia, Dr. Fate combines his helmet and Jimmy Olsen’s Mother Box into one and into him. It cures him of his Famine curse and also elevates Olsen to the level of a god.

Elsewhere John Constantine can be seen searching for some way to return him back to his proper Earth. He casts a spell to find help from someone and he ends up in a World Army Base in Gotham, where he finds several people in tubes.

The World Army team with Mister Miracle, Mr. Terrific, and such are on their way to fight Apokolips’ forces. However, they get a rather big shock. The living planet has teleported extremely close to the Earth. How close? So close that it is now colliding with the moon!

Not a bad issue overall, though it feels like it ends right when it is about to get going with several of its storylines. That’s a bit disappointing honestly since the directions the story are going are pretty good and are getting me really interested more than usual. However, due to the comic stopping before it gets started a lot of the time, Earth 2: World’s End often feels like its dragging on even longer than it should. Hopefully the next few issues follow through on some of the wonderful setup.

I’ve seen this speech somewhere before, haven’t I?
