Earth 2: World’s End #9 sees the outnumbered Mister Miracle and Big Barda begin their invasion of Apokolips. Can they overcome the odds? Will they make it out of this issue alive? Is it good?

Story:
Just as all hope looks lost, Green Lantern shows up and rescues the Avatar of the White from the Furies. Grundy gets his second wind as well and starts fighting back, pushing the villains back. Meanwhile, the creature freed from Atlantis (which looks like some Lovecraftian monster) emerges as the new Avatar of the Blue.
Spoiler Corner:
John Constantine and his new pals have made it all the way to Chicago and now need to board a train out of there to their next destination. However, the train is swarming with tons of people trying to fight their way onto it. Barbara and Dick are also there with their son and try to get on as well, but Barbara is shot by someone. John Constantine is about to get aboard the train, but stops when he sees that.
Back in the Firepit, the hero team continues searching through the cloning facility in search of Helena. However, in their search they find something big: the original Superman, Clark, strapped down to a table. Lois frees him from his confines, discovering he is still alive and seemingly back to normal. Well, outside of the fact that he seems way more vulnerable than the Superman we all know and love.
In New York City, a brainwashed/rage induced Hawkgirl attempts attacking The Flash and his mother. However, Dr. Fate and Jimmy Olsen, now infused with the motherbox, appear and quell the rage infecting everyone.
On Apokolips, as the World Army sets up their nukes around the planet Mister Miracle, Big Barda, and Fury attack Paternus, one of higher ranking individuals on the planet. Mister Miracle steals the key from him to the Mobius Chamber, which leads directly to the heart of the planet. Once retrieved, Mister Miracle heads to the chamber by himself to find out the truth.
Thoughts:
One thing I can always say about this comic is that it keeps moving.
Ultimately, the issue is as good as any other in the series in terms of the story and writing; the only real weaknesses come from some questionable moments like the three Avatars fighting off the Furies when not even the Superman and Bat-Family could fight off one or how the Chicago storyline with Dick’s Family transitions poorly between this and the previous issue. The artwork is also not looking too good here, with art styles that vary greatly between each other, more than any other issue to date.
