Spider-Man #15 Review

You know how sometimes the stories where a person finds out a superhero’s identity are all happiness and rainbows. Yeah, that’s not happening here.

Spider-Man #15 Review

Observations

  • I could legit read an entire comic of Miles and Jefferson have a poignant/slightly awkward father and son talk.
  • Ha! Get wrecked, Leap Frog.
  • Rio Morales does not mess around.
  • Dang. Miles is just going to go for it I guess.
  • That…did not go very well…and I totally see Rio’s point, too.
  • Miles has some pretty awesome friends.
  • Ugh. You suck, Maria Hill.
  • GET IT, GANKE!
  • The Verdict

Not a whole lot of action, but still a great issue that fleshes out (and also twists up) some major parts of Miles’ personal life.

The art has a few panels that look a bit too repetitive, but other than that, Szymon Kudranski’s work is stunning. I’d really like to see what he can do with a script that has some more motion and/or fight sequences.

Script-wise, Bendis’ dialogue between Miles and his dad is great. I also love that Rio’s discovery about her family isn’t just dismissed by her as something cool or to be irrationally afraid of. Instead, she reacts in a manner that is genuine, smart, and heart-breaking.

Add in a great moment for Ganke (at least I hope that was what was being hinted at the end), and Spider-Man #15 looks like it’s about to take the momentum from the Sitting in a Tree crossover and keep things going strong.
