Knights of the Frozen Throne, the latest expansion to Blizzard’s smash hit TCG Hearthstone launches next week on Thursday, August 10.
Blizzard has been revealing bits and pieces about the expansion pack over the past few weeks, including some truly insane cards, a new Lifesteal mechanic that heals your hero for damage done, and in keeping with the Frozen Throne theme, Legendary Hero cards that will ‘kill’ your hero and turn him/her into a Death Knight version with a new hero power.
Knights of the Frozen Throne is based off two of Blizzard’s most popular expansion packs of other games, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne and World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, which followed the noble Prince Arthas’ descent into madness upon becoming the Lich King, commander of the Scourage and Jailer of the Damned. Though players have hoped for some time now for a true new class in Hearthstone, this new Death Knight legendary mechanic is apparently the closest we’re going to get for a while.
