Game of Thrones: What did Littlefinger’s note say?

Littlefinger, you sneaky bastard.

Spoilers for last night’s episode ahead.

Last night’s episode of Game of Thrones, while not as explosive as the one before it, was noteworthy in its own right for many reasons. One of the most memorable scenes of the episode came when Arya Stark went all Solid Snake on Littlefinger, spying on him as he procured a note of some kind. After ransacking his quarters, Arya found the note hidden in a slit in his mattress. Viewers saw the note briefly, but much of it was too blurry to make out.

Or so you thought. Of course, the internet would come to the rescue and decipher the note. Redditor Opa1979 transcribed the note on the Game of Thrones subreddit for all to read:

Robb, I write to you with a heavy heart. Our good king Robert is dead, killed from wounds he took in a boar hunt. Father has been charged with treason. He conspired with Robert’s brothers against my beloved Joffrey and tried to steal his throne. The Lannisters are treating me very well and provide me with every comfort. I beg you: come to King’s Landing, swear fealty to King Joffrey and prevent any strife between the great houses of Lannister and Stark.

If you’re wondering what it all means, another redditor, TheVillageGoth, offered an explanation in the same thread:

It’s the one Sansa was forced to write to Robb back in Season 2, telling him to surrender to Joffrey.
Petyr Baelish meant for Arya to find it, to turn the two sisters against each other. Arya won’t understand the context under which it was written, and will interpret it as Sansa betraying her family – when it was actually written under distress.

Littlefinger, you sneaky bastard.
