Star Wars fans around the world are eagerly awaiting tonight’s Monday Night Football game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Bears, but not for any of the action on the field. At halftime, much like they did two years ago for The Force Awakens, Disney is dropping the latest trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Immediately following the trailer, tickets for the movie will go on sale, leading to movie ticket servers around the world most likely crashing.
In a world where trailers end up giving away more of the plot to movies than fans would like, however, many fans are trepidatious. And according to director Rian Johnson, they have every right to feel that way. He’s previously stated that fans who want to go in fresh should avoid anything released from now until the movie comes out, and he confirmed that includes tonight’s trailer on Twitter, saying “if you want to come in clean, absolutely avoid it.”

Of course, the qualifier “But it’s gooooood…..” will be too much for many to resist.
Earlier this year, Mark Hamill endorsed Johnson’s warning to avoid anything coming out, warning “AVOID ANYTHING YOU CAN BETWEEN NOW AND DECEMBER!”
I fully endorse this @rianjohnson endorsement:
AVOID EVERYTHING YOU CAN FROM NOW TILL DECEMBER!!!!! #WordsOfWisdom #WellWorthWaitingForVIII https://t.co/OLgmuDpxGg— MarkHoHoHoHamill (@HamillHimself) August 10, 2017
The trailer is just a precursor to the mad dash for tickets — it may be hard to actually pay attention to the trailer while getting your apps ready, anyway.
