The Super Nintendo Entertainment System is everywhere these days. While you’re probably still hunting for an SNES Mini Classic, Nintendo has also recently roped their handheld system, the 3DS, into the nostalgia fun. The New 3DS XL is virtually unchanged from the standard model, save for the ’90s blast from the past Super Nintendo-style casing around it, down to the power and reset sliders from the classic console. The special edition handheld system has already been released across Europe, leaving US gamers immensely jealous.
Thankfully, Nintendo announced today that a US-themed version of the handheld is coming, emulating the look and feel of the United States version of the SNES rather than the European one, which looked more like the original Japanese Super Famicom than the purple-and-off-white style American gamers have come to associate with the console.
The handheld is curiously an Amazon exclusive, but hopefully that means it will be a little easier to get your hands on one than the SNES Mini Classic. You can pre-order now, and Amazon says it will be released November 27, 2017 for a price of $199.99. The game comes with a free download code for Super Mario Kart, the game that started it all.
