Leaked, working title of ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ has been revealed

Does the rumored working title for ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ reveal an important plot development for the next film?

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is tearing it up at the box office, delivering the second largest opening weekend ever at $220 million, a figure which makes it only the fourth domestic release ever to open at over $200 million.

To the many of us who have already seen the film, one of the most burning questions is “What’s next?” According to Fantha Tracks, a website which helped break the working title for The Force Awakens, the working title for Episode IX is “Black Diamond”:

Fantha Tracks can exclusively reveal that Episode IX is being produced under the business name of Carbonado Industries (UK) Ltd. A business first intended for the Solo production – for obvious carbon freezing reasons. The working title for Episode IX will be Black Diamond – the common name of Carbonado.

From Wikipedia:

Carbonado, commonly known as the “black diamond”, is the toughest form of natural diamond. It is an impure form of polycrystalline diamond consisting of diamond, graphite, and amorphous carbon. It is found primarily in alluvial deposits in the Central African Republic and in Brazil. Its natural colour is black or dark grey, and it is more porous than other diamonds.

A black diamond like, say, the black stone that Snoke wears on his ring? Which according to leaks from Star Wars: The Last Jedi: The Visual Dictionary is “obsidian from Vader’s Mustafar Castle”?

If this turns out to be true and the ring isn’t just an indicator of Snoke’s opulence, perhaps Kylo Ren could be paying a visit to Mustafar in Episode IX, where some sort of final confrontation with Anakin Skywalker, Ren’s grandfather, via Force Ghost or vision could take place. Or are we reading too much into the fact that “Black Diamond” is a working title and could be as inconsequential as a tongue-in-cheek working title like “Red Cup” is to the solo Han Solo film?

What do you think of the Star Wars: Episode IX working title? Does it reveal an important plot point for the next film? Does the source of Snoke’s “black diamond” ring bear any significance to the actions Kylo Ren will take in the next film? Sound off in the comments.
