Warning: Spoilers for Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: Episode IX.
In Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, Grand Master of the Jedi Order, Yoda, told us, “Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not”; words that became all the more meaningful in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, when Yoda returned in Force ghost form to help Luke Skywalker realize that “failure is the best teacher.”
In the next Star Wars film, the as-of-yet-untitled Episode IX, we won’t have much reason to miss Master Yoda either; according to an unnamed source from the NY Daily News, the venerable Jedi will return once more:
“The success of the scenes featuring Yoda in ‘The Last Jedi’ were huge. If all goes according to plan, the sci-fi space sage will rejoin the series in spirit to mentor a young warrior played by British actress Daisy Ridley.
Yoda will again appear as a ghost as he acknowledges Rey’s success and growth as a Jedi. The scenes are due to be put together later this year.
Yoda will return to acknowledge Rey’s success; does that mean Luke Skywalker might make a similar Force ghost appearance? And what about Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, who Ben Solo/Kylo Ren has beseeched in his pursuit for power in the Dark Side, and with whom Ren shares undeniable similarities?
