New World of Warcraft: Battle For Azeroth comic “Reunion” details Jaina Proudmoore’s motivations

Jaina finds herself doing some soul searching in the ruins of Theramore.

While Blizzard is sometimes criticized for not showing enough of the story in the World of Warcraft games themselves, few would argue that they aren’t regularly exploring new mediums to tell the expansive story of Warcraft. Throughout Mists of Pandaria were a series of YouTube videos dubbed The Burdens of Shaohao that showed the history of Pandaria in a unique visual medium. This trend continued into Warlords of Draenor with the Lords of War series, introducing players to every Orcish leader on AU Draenor.

Leading into Battle For Azeroth, Blizzard is publishing a series of comic books, starting with Battle For Azeroth: Jaina “Reunion” #1, which gives some much-needed insight into Jaina Proudmoore’s headspace leading into the events of the next expansion. For years, Jaina has been forgiving to a fault, and has gotten burned because of it nearly every time. Now, she’s about done with trying to see the good in the Horde, especially after they bombed her home city of Theramore.

According to Blizzard, here’s what you can expect from the short (10 pages) comic:

Join Jaina Proudmoore in “Reunion,” the first in a series of digital comics leading up to Battle for Azeroth.

As the Horde and the Alliance reckon with the aftermath of their war with the Burning Legion, Jaina finds herself doing some soul searching in the ruins of Theramore. Alone with the ghosts of the dead city, she reflects on a bitter past full of heartbreak and betrayal–and resolves to confront it with a return to her homeland of Kul Tiras.

Blizzard has released the comic as a free download, so be sure to check it out today to get yourself in the mood for Battle For Azeroth.
