Kingdom Hearts III finally has a release date

Square Enix hops in a Gummi Ship and flies away from their previous release window.

Last night, around 1:30am EST, the Kingdom Hearts twitter account published these tweets announcing the new release date for Kingdom Hearts III, January 29th 2019. The announcement was made ahead of the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra World Tour, where this trailer for the game was released during E3 last year:

The game was set to release sometime in 2018, but pushing the release date to 2019 not only allows more time for polish, but keeps the game out of the same release windows as hugely anticipated titles like Red Dead Redemption 2, Super Smash Bros. for Switch, and guaranteed sellers like Battlefield V and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

Kingdom Hearts III was orignialy officially announced at E3 2013 with a teaser trailer, making its new release date fall a few months shy of five years after its original announcement.
